This week, we had an exciting visit from The Backyard Bug Experience. The children had the opportunity to see, hold, and learn about many different bugs.
We met a praying mantis and a hissing cockroach from Madagascar. We saw a scorpion that changed colour under a special light. We touched Shelley, a smooth python from Central Africa. We held death-feigning beetles, which pretend to be dead to protect themselves and giant millipedes which coiled themselves around our hands.
It was a wonderful morning, and the children loved it! They’ve been talking about the bugs every day since and are now eager to find their own bugs in our Kindy garden.
