Today we were visited by Amy from the charity, Childnet. She delivered interesting, useful and age appropriate sessions for all children from Years 1 to 8, addressing a wide variety of topics. Years 1 and 2 learnt through the story of ‘Salma the Seal’; key, age appropriate messages were embedded through a repeated short song and accompanying actions.
Years 3 to 6 examined various scenarios through discussion based, assembly style workshops tailored for their age groups. Sessions included key messages around online friendships, gaming, videos, personal information, trust, bullying and grooming.
The Year 7 and 8 session used realistic examples, video content and discussion to deliver key messages on relevant, topical and engaging issues. They learnt about and discussed a range of issues including fake news and misinformation, online relationships, sexting, and more.
The sessions were excellent and relevant. Do talk to your child about what they learnt today.
On 22nd June, the next in our series of Bridewell Talks takes place about this very subject, I do hope you are able to attend.
