Parents of children in Years 5 and 6 enjoyed an excellent evening of entertainment on Tuesday and Wednesday this week when they performed their ‘Evening of Music and Drama’. There were big musical numbers, poems, monologues and duologues, short scenes and sketches and even a live band!
Mrs Mason said,
“This was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talents of all the children in Year 5 and 6. As we have done successfully in the past, our Year 6 children took on the larger roles and Year 5 supported them brilliantly as the chorus. It will be Year 5’s turn next year and I can’t wait to see what they will do, alongside our extremely talented current Year 4! Mrs Campbell-John and I were so proud of the way all the children performed with such confidence. The progress they have made this term has been remarkable. I appreciate it was a late night for the children involved which is why we scheduled this for the last week of term. Hopefully they can all catch up on some well deserved sleep over the Easter holidays!
As you might imagine, it takes a great deal of effort to put on a show of this high standard and I would like to thank my Co-Director Mrs Campbell-John and our Assistant Director Mrs Goedkoop for everything they have done to make this production such a success.
I would also like to thank Mr Richardson, our Musical Director, for teaching the children such challenging songs and playing so superbly and Mr Frazer, our Technical Director and his Tech Team of five Year 6 children who designed and operated our fantastic light and sound system. We are so grateful to the BHCC for funding our wonderful new lights.
Drama is about so much more than saying lines on a stage. Children have the opportunity to work together as a team and support each other, to show bravery and be generous with their time and their talents. We witnessed this first hand this week both on and off the stage. I am so proud of all the children and everything they achieved.
Thank you all for your continued support of drama and music at Barrow Hills.”
We hope you enjoy the professional photos from our Evening of Music and Drama 2022.
