A wonderful evening of music was in store as the Bridewell Singers from Barrow Hills teamed up with the Chapel Choir from King Edward’s Witley, to host parents and staff from both schools and the wider community, to sing the Faure Requiem.
The 90 person strong choir performed with great gusto and musicianship, befitting the music selected. Our children sung to a high standard and relished the opportunity to sing with the older, more experienced choral singers from King Edward’s. This has given our Bridewell Singers a great deal of experience, which they will be able to build upon as an ensemble.
The evening began with a full rehearsal; this gave our children time to get accustomed to the venue and the environment. Afterwards, there was time for supper and rest before they made their way back into the candlelit chapel.
The service was beautiful and we are proud of the effort, skill and enthusiasm from every member of the choir. Parents and staff from Barrow Hills complimented the high standard of singing and the exemplary behaviour of the children. This unique opportunity showcased the improvement in improvement in choral music that Barrow Hills has made over the course of the academic year and was an excellent step in their preparation for the next event, the Bridewell Day service at St Bride’s Fleet Street, London on Tuesday.
