This week, Year 2 children were learning about Picasso and taking inspiration from the Cubism movement in art. The class enjoyed debating what they could see in pieces such as ‘The Weeping Woman’, ‘Bowl of Fruit, Violin and Bottle’ and ‘Three Musicians’. Then, the children used their knowledge of Egyptian Gods to create their own cubism piece of art. They were encouraged to include visuals of the Gods from different perspectives and to draw what they felt rather than simply producing a copy of a God.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and the output was so varied and colourful! We were able to guess which Egyptian God each child had based their picture on. Well done Year 2!
