End of year celebrations began in Nursery and Kindy this week. The children were visited by an amazing clown named Juggling Jake. As his name suggests, he was an extremely talented juggler who wowed the children with his ability to juggle balls, clubs and scarves. In the end of show finale there were ‘ooos’ and ‘aaahs’ from the children as Juggling Jake performed tricks whilst riding his unicycle across the patio!
In small groups the children were carefully taught the skills they would need to master each ‘trick’. Lots of concentration was needed as the children learned how to use spinning plates, devil sticks, and diablos. Balance was key, and they all really tried hard with their control and coordination when exploring the equipment during the workshop part of the morning. There was also time for the children to explore lots of other circus equipment out in the garden, such as miniature bikes, a low tightrope and balance beam, and four wheeled ‘pedal gos’. Everyone got stuck in, Mrs Withers discovered she was a champion hula hooper, Mrs Hardy was tempted by the unicycle, but decided to give it a miss this time, and Mr Oldroyd showed great determination during his juggling lesson! A great morning was had by all.
