In our ‘sails, rails, wheels and wings’ transport topic, this week the Year 2 children have been learning about different sorts of boats, from ancient to modern. They have watched fascinating videos on how early boats such as dug-out canoes and Ancient Egyptian reed boats were made; and tracked the routes of Viking longships across the globe. The children enjoyed making a dramatic reenactment of what it was like to row in a Viking longship in the Pre-Prep garden. They also had fun designing their own sails and making their own little sailing boats, which they raced with high excitement in water trays outside.
Well done Year 2 for engaging so thoroughly with our interesting topic.
