I wanted to bring your attention to the NHS Food Scanner app. This free app previously gave nutritional information on food and it now also offers swap suggestions, bringing food labels to life and helping you make healthier choices.
When at home or in the supermarket, simply scan the barcode to see how much sugar, saturated fat and salt is in your food and drink then choose one of the healthier swap suggestions. This could be particularly helpful when choosing snacks ( research shows that two-thirds of parents gave their children sweeter and fattier treats during lockdown).
A survey conducted by Public Health England with Netmums found nearly 90% of parents said they would benefit from an app that would help them make healthier choices for their children.
The free app can be found by searching for ‘Food Scanner App’ which is compatible with IOS and Android.
