The Great Big School Clean 2023

On Tuesday, with the weather on our side (just) we were able to go ahead with our ‘Big School Clean Up’, and what a success it was. Every year group came back with more rubbish and recycling than we expected and had pledged as part of our commitment to making our school a better and cleaner place to be. There were even some treasures discovered, which will be used to upcycle into another form. There was a real buzz from both children and staff with a fabulous finish to our first but not last Big School Clean Up. Thank you to all families who sent in gloves and litter pickers. We hope you enjoy our cleaner, less littered school when you are here next!

Some quotes from our children after our clean up;

“I felt joyful because we could change our school by making it cleaner and help the environment.”

“I was really happy that we got together and made our school a better place.”

“There are new bins around our school to help with our recycling and rubbish and we were able to use them today.”

Everyone was an ‘Eco Warrior’ this week and together we have made a huge difference cleaning up our school. Thank you to everyone.

What’s next!?

We will continue to monitor the use and positions of our bins around the school to see how effective they are. Particularly the bins near the parent pick up area at school.

We will confirm a date for the next Barrow Hills School Clean Up for the summer term as a follow up from today’s success.

Have a wonderful weekend and keep an eye out for the next Eco target coming your way!
