This week, the children have been immersed in learning about Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, which celebrates the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Diwali is a time of great joy and togetherness, marked by beautiful traditions such as lighting clay diva lamps and creating rangoli patterns, which symbolise prosperity and happiness. The children have enjoyed making their own clay diva lamps and vibrant salt dough rangoli patterns.
Our Book of the Week was ‘Rama and Sita’, a captivating story that fascinated the children. They were especially intrigued by how Sita cleverly used her anklet, earring, and scarf to leave a trail for Rama to find her. The character of Sita sparked lively discussions, and the children loved dressing up a teddy as Sita using various classroom resources.
Diwali is celebrated worldwide, with families lighting oil lamps, decorating homes with rangoli, sharing special meals, and enjoying fireworks. It’s a time of love, forgiveness, and renewal, and our children have embraced the spirit of this celebration with enthusiasm and joy.
