During this half of term, Year 2 are learning about plants and what they need to grow. We started the term with an experiment about what would happen to cress and mustard if they grew in the dark. Year 2 were surprised to see after a week they had grown quite a lot but the leaves were yellow and the stems were white which was quite different to the green healthy plants in the classroom.
This week, Year 2 became detectives. They were looking for plants that were dying or dead on our school grounds. We visited the wonderful gardening area which is cared for by Mr Gaska. We explored the wonderful plants and discovered that some plants are seasonal and therefore the roots are still alive ready for next year. We had a fantastic science lesson outside with lots of brilliant collaborative work.
