Year 2 has had a busy week. All the children have been making the most of the cold weather and enjoyed the snow on Sunday, building some super snowmen. In Forest School, Mrs Wilson showed the children how to create beautiful ice hangers.
In science, they have been learning about reversible and irreversible changes. They have been heating different materials and observing any changes that take place. The children have also had to think very carefully about whether the changes are reversible or irreversible.
Florence found:
“an example of a reversible heat is sunburn on your skin as that can heal. Irreversible heat is a log on the fire which burns away”.
In humanities Year 2 has spent the last two weeks learning about the life of Nelson Mandela, a topic all the children have really enjoyed. The children have had the opportunity to engage in some interesting discussions about him during their live lessons. A big well done to Albie who wrote a fantastic diary entry as if he was Nelson Mandela and he has just become President of South Africa and to Annabel for sharing her Grandpa’s experiences of Robben Island.
Felix was busy in the kitchen and cooked a delicious plate of calamari and Annabel baked an amazing rainbow cake.
Well done children, another super week in Year 2!
