Year 4 children enjoyed a hands-on history experience this week at the Victorian schoolhouse at Farnham Museum. The session was great fun with the school mistress in full Victorian role; everyone sat up straight, made sure their hands were clean, and didn’t dare talk! The children relished writing on slates, using a dip pen with ink, and some bravely stood up to read extracts from ‘The Charge of the Light Brigade’.
The morning continued with a museum exploration and the opportunity to handle various Victorian artifacts. This truly immersive experience sparked their imaginations and provided a glimpse into the disciplined education of the Victorian era.
