Dear Parents,

I hope that the half term break allowed you and your children an opportunity to relax and enjoy the Jubilee celebrations. Although it was a busy week for the Oldroyds, we found plenty of time to spend time together as a family and therefore we are ready for the intense final few weeks of the term. I am looking forward to seeing the children perform at Proms and have the opportunity to catch up with many of you at events such as the productions, Sports Day, Prize Giving and Rokefest.

The first half term finished with us welcoming back Years 5 and 6 from their amazing adventures in Snowdonia. It was wonderful to read so many complimentary emails from parents thanking the staff and informing us that their children were ‘buzzing’ from their experiences.

This half term started with Year 8 taking their Common Entrance exams and Years 3 and 4 departing on their residential trip, this time closer to home at PGL in Hindhead. No doubt, they will also come back with many happy memories, especially as it will be the first time many of them have stayed away from home.

Year 8’s final exam, Latin, was this morning. The children have worked diligently over the last few years and appear to have taken the experience in their stride – well done! They have certainly earned their exciting post CE activities, starting today with a trip to Thorpe Park. This will be followed by camping in the adventure club area with Mr Dean. Hopefully they will have enough energy for our Platinum Jubilee proms event!

We are looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Proms to enjoy each other’s company in our magnificent grounds and watch the children perform pieces of music, dance and drama on the outside stage. We encourage you to bring blankets and portable garden furniture to enjoy your picnics throughout the afternoon. There will be some tables and chairs available, but not enough for everyone. You are welcome to arrive from 12 noon, with performances scheduled to begin at 1.00pm and finish around 3.00pm. Come and go as you please throughout the afternoon and remember to dress in red, white and blue – the weather forecast is looking good!

Thank you to those of you, in your capacity as Year 6 or 7 parents, who joined us for our SchoolsMobile webinar last night. I hope that you found the information and Q&A session has enabled you to have a better understanding of the app and be able to start using it on your children’s devices. It is an exciting pilot project and one we are looking forward to rolling out to the rest of the school community in July.

Whilst on the subject of exciting projects, for those of you who drop off children in Reception, Nursery and Kindy you may have noticed the drawings on the noticeboard just inside the gate. These are for a play area to be constructed at various levels in the trees in the Pre-Prep garden. We are planning to fundraise with the BHCC to make this come to fruition in the near future. More details will be made available over the coming weeks.

Dear Parents

It is lovely to see all the children and staff looking refreshed after the half-term break, ready for the busy second half of the term.

I was delighted to award ballet certificates this week in our assembly and a silver badge to Thomas (2G). I spoke about ‘World Ocean Day’ which was on Wednesday. I was very impressed with how well informed our children are on how we need to care for our oceans and reduce the use of plastics.

We are looking forward to our Pre-Prep Sports day on Thursday at 9.00am. Refreshments will be available in the Refectory from drop off. On Wednesday 22nd June at 8.40am we will have our end of term Pre-Prep Awards Assembly. Parents are warmly invited to join us. Our Summer Concert is on Wednesday 29th June at 9.00am, with a dress rehearsal on Tuesday 28th June at 9.00am for parents who wish to bring younger siblings.

I do hope you are able to join us on Saturday for our Jubilee and birthday celebrations.
