Weekly Newsletter 25th March 2022
Dear Parents
All of the end of term events and the glorious spring weather have certainly put our pupil profile of being joyful to the fore. We have been royally treated to the Years 5 & 6 drama production, the Monday Morning Mile, the BHCC Bunny Run and the Pre-Prep Spring Concert. More information on all of these events will be found elsewhere in this newsletter, the photos are in the website gallery and the downloads will be made available soon. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed, staff, children and parents to make all these events possible and of such high quality. Personally, it gave me great pleasure to see how much the children enjoyed themselves and meant that Toby, my dog, had two school organised dog walks!
Two of our other pupil profile attributes have been represented in our Lent Appeal; those of being compassionate and generous. The children have been holding many events throughout the last couple of weeks and you have all given generously to support them. So far we have raised in the region of £2,500 and we still have money coming in. Please would you send in any outstanding amounts as soon as possible so that we can finalise our total and send the money to our chosen charity, Brain Injury is BIG.
We also end this term with further scholarly news of our children’s achievements as all our destination schools have announced their scholarships and awards. The children in Years 6 and 8 have been acknowledged for their academic, sporting and artistic prowess by the following schools: Ampleforth College; Cranleigh; King Edward’s; Prior’s Field; Seaford College; and St Edmund’s.
You’ll find in the posters below, details of ‘Trumpets Through the Ages: A Musical Journey Through Time’ on Saturday 21st May. This is an evening with the fantastic Crispian Steele-Perkins to raise money for the Guildford and South Surrey Branch of Parkinson’s UK. I hope you’ll be able to join us.
I hope that this last week of term has put you in the Easter spirit although this is still three weeks away! Having navigated our way through yet another challenging term at the hands of Covid, we are all looking forward to some continued sunny weather, fresh air and warming sun so we are able to recharge our batteries. I wish you all well for the holidays and for some of you, enjoy the ski slopes or sunny climes overseas. I will be enjoying the countryside, beaches and gastronomy of Norfolk!

Pre-Prep
Dear Parents
The spring term in Pre-Prep has well and truly finished on a high with the Spring Concert on Thursday. The children sang their hearts out and hearing the Chapel ringing with their final rendition of ‘I’m a Spring Chicken’ (parents included) was fantastic!
This week, Year 2 have completed their Lent Appeal circuit challenge and Reception their egg and spoon race. Our sponsored activities for Pre-Prep also included Year 1’s sponsored silence and Kindy and Nursery’s scooter challenge. Thank you for all the monies raised for a very worthy charity.
Thank you again for supporting the Bunny Run; I was very impressed with all ages running the full course! It is part of the cross country course which the children will run from Year 3 so hopefully that will encourage them to begin to think about their move to Year 3 in September; time is certainly flying past!
If you are looking for local places to visit over the break, please pop along to the Haslemere Museum, they are displaying some wonderful Pre-Prep artwork from 1st April.
We look forward to swimming in our pool next term. Please make sure, from the first week, your child has in school: their swimming costume, hat for girls, goggles and a towel. Reception and Year 1 will swim on Fridays, Year 2 on Mondays. Year 1 Games will start with tennis (cricket after May half term) and Year 2 Games will be cricket, Nursery – Reception PE will be athletics.
Thank you for all your support this past term. I think we are all ready for some down time and hopefully get to enjoy some spring sunshine.

Cake Sale
Thank you so much to all of Reception and Year 5 for supplying so many delicious cakes and biscuits for the cake sale last week and for helping to sell them on the stall. £288.05 was raised which is fantastic and all in aid of Ukraine.

Prioritise children’s health and the health of our planet over the comfort of drivers who repeatedly keep their vehicle engine running when parked. Muddy Stilettos
Sally Swim School
Sally Crathern, Barrow Hills Pre-Prep swimming teacher is running a week long intensive swimming course from April 4th – 8th at King Edward’s Witley. This is for half an hour each morning, any time between 9.00am and 11.00am. After nearly two years of no swimming we need to get your children back in the water!
This course is perfect for any children over the age of four, from nervous non swimmers to strong club standard. Group sizes are small with teachers in the water with young/less confident swimmers. The aim in to improve water confidence, learn new skills and improve on stroke technique. All teachers are DBS checked and have up to date life saving qualifications. Absences on match afternoons
Please notify games staff of any absences on a match afternoon in advance when possible.
Absence Request Form
This Absence Request Form must be completed for any reason that a child is not in school, other than illness. These are also found on the Parent Portal. Thank you.
Portal
Please can we remind you that the majority of the communications are sent via the parent portal on a Tuesday. Communications will vary for each child dependent on a variety of factors e.g. class, gender, sets. The Prep team sheet can be changed at any time therefore we encourage you to check the portal on a regular basis.
