News from Pre-Prep

Our final week of the term has been brimming with festive fun and Pre-Prep kicked this off by taking to the stage at the beginning of the week for the dress rehearsal and then performance of their nativity, Hey Ewe! Our youngest children here at Barrow Hills sang their hearts out, dressed in a range of costumes, and the Year 2s who had speaking roles did fantastically well to remember their lines as well as deliver them to a packed Chapel on Tuesday morning. All of Pre-Prep rose to the occasion – displaying acting talent beyond their tender years! Well done everyone.

From shepherd costumes to Christmas jumpers, the Pre-Prep had a quick costume change after Tuesday’s performance and there was a rainbow of sequins and sparkles, in time for Christmas lunch. All of Pre-Prep sat down at long tables all laid out with Christmas decorations and were served at their seats with their festive banquet! The catering team outdid themselves and all the children collectively shared a “thank you” to the team.

The middle of the week hosted Panto Day! While the Nursery and Kindy welcomed the Hobgoblin Theatre Company for a production of the Pied Piper of Hamlin, Reception to Year 2 travelled to Guildford to see Cinderella at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. Great fun and hilarity was evident at both performances and our older Pre-Prep children, representing the school in Guildford, behaved beautifully.

There was a very special visitor to Barrow Hills on Thursday morning as Father Christmas arrived in the Pre-Prep garden. Great excitement (with the occasional shriek) was to be heard as children spotted the big red suit! Each child received a gift and some classes treated Father Christmas to a song!

Congratulations to Lenny, Leo and Walter from Year 1 and Hugh from Year 2 who were presented with their Bronze Certificates at the end of term assembly this morning. Well done, also, to Orson from Year 1 who was presented with the Pre-Prep Playtime Award. This is a new half termly award and is presented to a child who has been seen consistently playing cooperatively, being kind and keeping to the garden rules.

As the autumn term draws to a close, I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and hope you have a wonderful break.

See you in the New Year.
