Why Our Prep School Nursery? All the advantages of our outstanding Prep school
Children can join our Nursery from their 2nd birthday. We provide a warm and nurturing environment in which your child can play, learn and develop with all the benefits of our outstanding Prep School.
Why our Prep School Nursery?
Your child will establish a relationship with the school within their first term with us and maintain this throughout their time here. Their early friendship group and familiarity with the setting are key reassurances for a family when choosing the right setting.
Learning
Our Nursery follows the Early Years Framework Curriculum and the seven areas of learning, with a balance of learning through play, as well as more focused adult-led learning. The staff have created an exciting curriculum which prepares the children for school, at a pace they feel most comfortable with.
Specialist Teachers
Our highly experienced specialist teachers significantly enhance the curriculum every week in subjects including Music, French, Sports and Forest School. Beyond Nursery, the amount of specialist teaching increases and the children also begin visiting the Science Labs for the first time from Reception. They are taught Art by our Head of Art in the art studio as well as IT and Drama.
Phonics
Our ‘Kindy’ class are introduced to phonics through the Read Write Inc programme which supports their literacy progress, including developing their language through story times and teaching phonics.
Meal Times
The Nursery children eat their hot lunch in the school dining room, alongside the rest of Pre-Prep. As well as promoting a healthy and balanced diet, good manners are encouraged as children eat their lunch at the table together with the nursery staff.
Performances
Our Nursery is an important part of our school community, and both Nursery classes are involved in Pre-Prep performances each term.
Parent Consultations
In addition to daily updates on Tapestry, our Kindy class have Parent Consultations which take place during the autumn and spring terms. There is also an end of year school report at the end of the summer term.
Our small and friendly department enables our highly experienced staff time to really build strong relationships with each child and their family.
