Teaching Clara the Crocodile to Count in Kindy
It’s been another busy week in Kindy!
The children have been learning to say and write the sound ‘k’ and have continued to learn to write and count the number 10. They have used their hands to show that 5+5=10 and they have been teaching our class puppet Clara the Crocodile how to count because she finds numbers tricky.
The book of the week has been ‘Crow in the Snow’. It offers a delightful insight into how animals cope with the colder months, which has prompted some super discussions and enabled the children to share ideas and increase their knowledge and understanding of the world.
To complement this story, the children have enjoyed a tuff tray activity, making dens, shelters and stores of food for animals in the winter.
The Kindy children started visiting the School Library last term. It is such a lovely experience for the children, not to mention a bit of an adventure climbing up the stairs to reach the top of the school! They were delighted to join Mrs Withers for story time in the library. Mrs Withers read a wonderful story about animals hibernating in the winter time and the children sat beautifully and enjoyed not only listening to the story, but answering questions too.
They are looking forward to many more stories in the library!
Have a lovely weekend,
The Kindy Team
