Last week in Reception, we had lots of fun exploring odd and even numbers in a practical and creative way. The children have been learning how to spot whether a number is odd or even using sorting activities, counting objects, and working with pairs.
To bring our learning to life, the children were challenged to design their own towns—Odd Town and Even Town! The rule was simple but exciting: Odd Town could only have odd numbers of things (like 3 trees or 5 houses), and Even Town had to stick to even numbers only (such as 2 shops or 4 cars).
It was wonderful to see the children thinking carefully about their choices and applying their number knowledge so confidently. We had some brilliantly imaginative creations, from towns filled with 1-eyed monsters to streets with 6 lampposts in a row!
