Welcome to the BHCC.
What we do
The BHCC organises and runs a series of events throughout the year for children and adults with the aim of fundraising for charity and the School as well as creating memorable experiences that will be cherished by all for years to come. For example, we host the Hog Roast at the start of autumn term and host the year end summer party. We also run a series of child focussed events, such as fireworks night and the Christmas decoration workshop.
All of our activities are geared towards developing the pupil profile attributes or developing a stronger school community.
All our events are ‘opt in’ (there’s no expectation that you have to donate, attend or volunteer), though we aim to develop a sense of community in the School by inviting everyone to do so.
We try very hard not to just ask for money to support BHCC activities. Where possible, we request donations of time or of items that can be used in fundraising (for example old clothes, leftover presents after Christmas for a raffle).
Money is of course important given we are a fundraising body, but so is time spent in School to enrich the school day. We aim to encourage the children to see how giving time can be as valuable as a financial contribution.
We understand that not everyone has the time to volunteer. However, if you do it is uniquely satisfying to know we are enriching our children’s education and our children are pleased to see us as part of the school community.
Our volunteer committee organise events throughout the school year. Even if you don’t want to be on the committee there are many chances to volunteer to support the School, from baking a cake for a cake sale to helping the children decorate an Easter egg.
We support the School’s charitable endeavours by hosting events such as a Macmillan Coffee Morning and Harvest Festival. Depending on the activity chosen for Lenten appeal we may also support the children in their activities in that week.
The class reps are the glue that hold the school community together, acting as a conduit for information between the School, BHCC and the parents. In particular the class rep will coordinate termly meetings between each year group and the School to ensure there is open dialogue and feedback between the parents and staff.
