Year 1 had a fantastic trip to The Guildford Museum this week. They also enjoyed a walk round the Guildford Castle gardens. The museum is packed full of interesting exhibitions and we were extremely fortunate to have it to ourselves as Mark the Education Officer opened the museum especially for us. The main exhibitions include, archaeology, needlework, local history, Victorian toys and the Queen’s Regiment Exhibition.
The children particularly enjoyed the old fashioned toy exhibition including a doll’s house, Noah’s ark, cars and a theatre. Another highlight was The Victorian scullery room complete with a washboard, dolly and washing line!
The children enjoyed a lovely walk round the castle gardens and a look round the exterior of the castle. They were all amazed by the view from the top of the motte!
Well done to all the children in Year 1 for their interest and enthusiasm.
My thanks to Mrs Reed and Mrs Wilson for all their help.
