We were delighted to welcome best selling author David Owen to Barrow Hills during our World Book Week celebrations.
David met with children from Pre-Prep to Year 6 and introduced his five book series ‘Alex Neptune’, tales of a boy with the power of the ocean in his hands.
He shared his own journey with our budding Barrow Hills authors, explaining that, even as a child and young adult, he invested a huge amount of time into reading everything and anything he could! Also the importance of his time studying where he learned how to hone his creativity into a craft.
He reminded them that writing a bestseller can take years and not to expect it to happen overnight. David spoke about his inspiration after visiting Iceland and how the barren magical landscape helped him create the sea dragon in his stories. David spoke passionately about how we can all help look after the ocean and its wonders that are yet to be explored.
