Last week, Year 8 presented an assembly to Years 3-7 about Lent and how important it is to show compassion by helping a charity, a long standing Barrow Hills tradition at this time of year. They shared information about four charities and the children attending voted for the charity we would support this year.
This year’s Lenten Appeal will be supporting Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. I am sure you will agree, a very worthwhile charity to support.
We are encouraging all children in the school to raise money. In the past, class and year groups have taken part in school based sponsored events and other children have raised money at home by holding cake sales, garage sales, helping with household chores, making up their own sponsored events or simply donating some pocket money.
This year, we have again created a Just Giving page, so the children can be incentivised to see the total money raised increase as the weeks go by! Please don’t forget to add gift aid and share it with anybody you feel might also be able to help.
Please encourage your children to be proactive, help them raise some money and make a difference to the lives of children less fortunate.
