The children in Year 2 had a wonderful time crafting floral headbands for our end of term Spring Concert.
They carefully dipped folded coffee filters into water coloured with food dye, and watched as the filters soaked up the colouring. One child exclaimed, “It’s science!”, remembering our previous learning on capillary action when looking at how plants suck up water. Once the coloured filter papers had dried out, the children separated out the ‘petals’, gently crumpling each one to make them look more lifelike. After sticking the petals together to form a flower, they finished off their creation with small balls of tissue paper.
The finished headbands looked stunning! Well done, Year 2!
