Time Travel in Reception: Exploring the 1940s through Peepo!

This week in Reception, we’ve been diving into the past through our Book of the Week: Peepo! by Janet and Allan Ahlberg—a beautifully illustrated story set in the 1940s. The children have been fascinated by everyday objects from that time and enjoyed comparing them to the items we use today.

We’ve had some exciting hands-on investigations with real artefacts, including old clocks, books, coins, and even precious soft toys. The children were especially curious about the typewriter—many had never seen one before and loved typing their own messages, imagining what life was like before computers.

A big thank you to all the parents who thoughtfully sent in items from home to support our learning. These real-life experiences help bring history to life for the children.
