Maths in the garden in Year 1

It has been a joy to see the children coming back to school so happily and settling in so beautifully to Year 1.

This week we have been making the most of the breaks in the weather to take our maths learning outside. The children are working on recognising numbers as words, so we headed out into the garden armed with a selection of number cards. The children had great fun taking a card, reading the word on it, and finding the correct number of pinecones, stones, leaves or twigs.
