Year 1 Investigate States of Matter in The Science Lab

The children headed to the Science Lab for a lesson with Mr Behan this week.

After explaining about the different states of matter, the children explored the impact that heat and cold can have on certain materials. They investigated the effect of heat on ice, holding an ice cube and watching it melt.

Then they observed the effect of heat on water, watching a clear plastic kettle come to the boil and giving off steam. Next, they watched a lava lamp in action, while Mr Behan explained what was happening inside.

The children asked excellent questions and displayed some impressive scientific knowledge.
