All About Ducks with Kindy!
It has been a wonderful week of learning in Kindy.
The Book of the Week was The Ugly Duckling – a super story to teach the children about kind words and actions. From this the children have also learnt about life cycles and seasonal changes.
The children sorted a selection of feathers into groups, played with a duck pond themed tuff tray, constructed duck nests with a selection of materials and made beautiful, graceful swans from…paper plates!
For our sounds this week we have reviewed the sounds c,k,u,b,and f. They have written the sounds in sand and coloured rice and they have painted and chalked the sounds and enjoyed looking in a mirror as they say the sounds!
We have focused on musical songs to 10 this week. Alice the Camel is very popular, not only is it great fun but helps the children consolidate numbers to 10.
Mrs Triska has made fabulous bird cake hearts with the children for Valentine’s Day.
The children sang beautifully for their grandparents on Thursday afternoon – they sang ‘We are The Dinosaurs’ with Nursery. It was fantastic to watch all the children singing so well and remembering the actions and the children looked wonderful in their dinosaur headdresses.
It was lovely to welcome all the grandparents to our classroom afterwards to look at the wall displays and books.
Wishing all our Kindy children and families a lovely half term break.
