Kindy and The Gingerbread Men

Kindy has had a fantastic week!

The sound of the week was ‘p’ and the children enjoyed playing ‘I spy’ in the classroom. They are now very good at recognising if the sound is bouncy or stretchy.

The number of the week was 6, and the children had to unpack little bags containing 6 objects and line them up to count them. They have loved drawing 6 in their books and on the white boards.

The book of the week was ‘The Gingerbread Man’. The children sang the song as they enjoyed listening to the story as well as using felt toys to act out the story.

They have decorated gingerbread men which were very kindly made by the catering staff.

The children enjoyed being detectives and had to hunt for 6 gingerbread men hiding in the classroom! The gingerbread men were very cheeky and moved every night to different places in the classroom!

They made playdough gingerbread men and decorated laminated pictures of gingerbread men.

The book lends itself very well to maths with plenty of daily opportunities to count to 6 and beyond.

Well done, Kindy, for such great enthusiasm and counting this week!

Have a lovely weekend.
The Kindy Team.
