Phonics with Reception
This week in phonics, our Reception children had a wonderful time practising their reading skills using the Chromebooks. They felt very grown-up taking care of the devices and were shown how to navigate an online phonics game that supports reading.
The children chose the sounds they wanted to practise and then helped an alien find his way back to his spaceship by reading words and matching them to the correct objects in the game. There was so much concentration, some excellent blending for reading, and careful use of the Chromebooks.
We also learnt how to shut down the computers properly and talked about what to do if we ever get lost on the internet, a great first step towards staying safe online.
