Jurassic fun: Kindy and Nursery dissolve dinosaur eggs!

The sound of the week is ‘U.’ The children have been learning to say and write the sound and have become familiar with words that start with ‘u’ too.

The numbers this week are 6,7,8,9, and 10 and the children have enjoyed playing games with these numbers. We have also spent time focusing on mass and we used pasta and rice to help them understand heavy, light and balanced.

The Book of the Week is ‘Harry and The Dinosaurs go to School’. This has been a great book to continue learning about fossils and different types of dinosaurs – we even set up a dinosaur school in the classroom!

A huge thanks to Mrs Triska who very kindly made some dissolving dinosaur eggs for the children to experiment with and it was wonderful to welcome the Nursery children for this activity. The children squirted coloured water on the eggs using pipettes and watched the amazing transformation of the eggs dissolving and baby dinosaurs appearing!

It was wonderful to hear such observant comments and to see the children so interested and engaged.

Have a lovely weekend,
The Kindy Team
