Maths Through Play in Kindy

Maths is used all through the day in Kindy; counting the children in the line, counting to 10 forwards and backwards, counting the pegs on a playdough spaceship, dominoes, rolling dice, counting songs, selecting a shape for crafting, threading buttons, collecting pom poms into numbered egg boxes and many more.

The children love hands-on activities and they particularly enjoyed using porridge oats to create fun maths. The children had to find small, medium or large bears hidden in the oats. They then had to put them in the correct size bowls.

The children also had to find different coloured bears and cubes  in the oats and match them to the coloured bowls.

The oats were fantastic for a weighing activity showing lighter, heavier and balanced.
