Investigations with Year 1
On Tuesday, the children were treated to a chilly but beautiful morning and were delighted to be outside playing in the garden with their friends, exploring the ice and snow. This led to lots of interesting discussions about ice and snow, and we talked about the freezing temperature of water, what happens to ice when the temperature goes above zero, and what happens to water when it goes below zero.
The children shared some fantastic ideas about how to warm up the ice blocks they found in the garden and carried out their own investigations. They even left some water outside overnight, only to realise in the morning that it must not have been cold enough as it was still water.
It has been a wonderful week of investigations and learning.
