Investigating Our Reflexes in Year 2

The children have been looking at how scientists in the past spent a long time investigating the human body. On a glorious and hot afternoon, the children headed out into the Pre-Prep garden to carry out an investigation into human reflexes.
Working with a learning partner, the children took turns being the ‘scientist’ and the ‘tester’. The scientist held a ruler with their arm stretched out (making sure to hold the ruler at the highest measurement). The tester put their fingers close to the bottom of the ruler, ready to catch it. The scientist then let go of the ruler and the tester caught it and noted the number at which the tester caught the ruler.
The children’s reflexes were a good deal quicker than the adults!
