Painting Butterflies
This week in Nursery we have been exploring our Book of the Week, “Monkey Puzzle”, supporting the children’s developing communication and language skills as they listened to the story and joined in with repeated phrases.
Our number of the week was 8 and our colour of the week was pink. The children practised counting up to 8 using objects and actions, helping to build their understanding of number recognition. They enjoyed identifying pink objects and using this colour in their creative activities.
Continuing on from our book of the week, we created beautiful butterfly paintings for our display. The children explored a simple printing technique by folding their butterfly shapes in half, painting on one side, and then folding them over to reveal matching patterns on each wing. This activity introduced early mathematical language as we discussed “half” and “symmetry”, supporting their understanding of shape, pattern, and balance.
It has been a lovely creative week in Nursery!
Have a lovely weekend
