Repeating Patterns with Reception

This week we have had lots of fun exploring repeating patterns in new and more challenging ways. The children really enjoyed spotting deliberate mistakes in patterns and talking about what did not look quite right. They were very proud of themselves when they could explain how to fix them.

We have also been making our own patterns for our friends to continue. The children loved being the teacher and trying to trick each other with slightly more challenging patterns. It has been lovely to see them growing in confidence and having a go at creating more detailed repeating sequences.

In our creative learning we looked at the nature artwork of Andy Goldsworthy and James Brunt. The children used natural materials such as leaves, sticks and stones to make their own beautiful repeating patterns. They showed great imagination and worked really well together. Well done Reception!
