Wonderful Wheels With Year 1

This week in Year 1 we are learning about the invention of the wheel, and the impact that wheels have had on travel and transport.

After learning about the history of the wheel, the children headed out into the garden with a number of different wheeled toys and a set of planks. Working in pairs and small groups, they investigated whether wheel size had an impact on how far and fast a toy car could travel down a plank; and then explored the impact of different surfaces on the wheels. We had a good discussion of their findings, and how accurate their predictions were.
