Getting Ready For The Harvest Festival With Reception

This week, as we have been getting ready for our Harvest Festival, the children have been learning all about vegetables and farming. Our book of the week, The Enormous Turnip, has been a lovely starting point for exploring different vegetables and talking about their sizes, shapes, colours and textures. We have also been thinking about where vegetables grow, how they grow and how they are harvested.

The children even had a go at baking some delicious carrot muffins! They enjoyed weighing and mixing the ingredients before popping them into the oven. The classroom smelled amazing while they were baking, and the children were very excited to decorate their muffins with a little icing before taking them home to enjoy.
