VE Day in Reception

This week, the children in Reception have been learning about the 80th anniversary of VE Day. We spent time thinking about the brave people who fought in wars to help keep us safe and bring peace.

The children enjoyed listening to stories about what it was like on VE Day all those years ago, including hearing memories from people who celebrated the end of the war.

To mark the occasion, the children had lots of fun waving flags, just as people did during the celebrations in 1945! We talked about how people felt happy and relieved, and we waved our flags proudly together in celebration. It has been a lovely way for the children to begin thinking about the importance of remembrance and thankfulness.

We are so proud of their thoughtful questions and their enthusiasm as they learned about this special part of history.
