Reception's Arundel Wetland Centre Trip

What a wonderful day we had on our very first school trip!

The excitement started as soon as we climbed aboard the minibus with Mrs Wilson. As we got closer to Arundel, the children loved spotting the impressive Arundel Castle high on the hillside.

Our day began with a boat trip around the wetlands. We listened carefully for the peregrine falcons nesting nearby and could hear them calling, although they stayed hidden from view. The children were engaged and enthusiastic throughout the day, asking our guide, Tracey, lots of sensible questions to help them learn more.

After a quick play in the park, we enjoyed pond dipping, where the children worked brilliantly together to find and identify a variety of pond creatures. Following our picnic lunch, we explored the minibeast garden, searching for creatures that live on land and learning more about insects and their habitats.

We finished our visit with a walk around the reserve, stopping at the bird hides, strolling along the boardwalk and arriving just in time to watch the pelicans being fed.

The children were an absolute credit to the school. They were curious, well behaved and enthusiastic all day, making it a real pleasure to spend the day with them. There were certainly some tired faces and even a few snoozing children on the minibus journey home!

Well done, Reception. We are so proud of you all and this is just the first of many exciting school trips to come!
