Dissection with Year 6

Our Year 6 scientists stepped into the role of medical researchers this week as they conducted a fascinating, hands-on chicken leg dissection to explore how biology works in real life. The children demonstrated an incredible level of maturity and focus, handling their scalpels with safety and precision as they investigated the mechanics of movement. During the dissection, successfully identified antagonistic muscle pairs to see how muscles work, examined the smooth cartilage protecting the bones, and carefully uncovered the tendons and cruciate ligaments that hold the joints together. We may well have some future surgeons or veterinarians in our midst!
