Welcome back to Forest school!

We’ve spent our first few days going over the do’s and don’ts of the forest, making sure we all stay safe while exploring.

We identified two types of poisonous berries — one from the yew tree and another from the laurel. We also discovered an abundance of mushrooms and fungi!

Using a fungi name trail key, we were able to identify many of them. Among our finds were: the common puffball, sulphur tuft, hare’s ear (which really did look like an ear!), wood cauliflower, amethyst chanterelle, and porcelain fungus.

Who knew we had so many fascinating types of fungi in our very own woods?
