IAPS Netball Tournament
The U11 girls netball team travelled to Rugby School last week to take part in the IAPS netball tournament. Excitement was high as the team were travelling the night before and staying overnight – however the excitement did not last long when we were stuck in traffic for most of the night on the M25 and then our coach picked the busiest restaurant in the whole of the Midlands for our team meal and we were still waiting to eat at 8.30pm at night!
However we were on our best behaviour in the hotel and slept so well. We woke up with so much energy and did not mind at all the prospect of an entire day in the rain playing netball. We could not have asked for a better start to our tournament with 4 wins in a row placing us top of our group ready for the knockout stages. Sadly we were then knocked out in the quarter finals by Bedford Girls School (6-2). If we were honest we know we could have won this match. The umpire did not like some of our footwork and we missed vital shots on goal. But we have learnt to be gracious in defeat and we are looking forward to IAPS next year!
Overall the team scored 36 goals in 5 games and only let in 13 goals. The height of Jessica scared most teams before they played us and we have been training hard to feed the most incredible balls high into the circle and safely into Jessica’s hands for a shot on goal. Honeysuckle and Ellie were formidable in defence and not one school was able to get a ball to their GA from a centre pass without Honeysuckle getting to it first!
Well played to: Ellie, Honeysuckle, Flynn, Emily, Marley, Isobel, Sophie, Jessica
RESULTS:
Loughborough School 8-0 WIN
Spratton Hall 7-0 WIN
The Croft 6-0 WIN
