Battle of Crecy Year 6
Year 6 historians recently completed an exciting piece of independent work as part of their study of the Battle of Crécy (1346). Pupils researched the battle and created a one-page summary designed to explain the key events clearly and creatively. As part of their work, they explored the wider context of the battle during the Hundred Years’ War and organised their findings into four sections: Causes, Battle Phases, Turning Points, and Consequences. This helped pupils think carefully about how the battle developed and why it was such an important moment in medieval history.
The finished pages showed a wonderful mix of research, analytical thinking, and presentation skills. Pupils worked hard to identify the most important information and explain key developments, such as the role of the English longbow and the moments that shaped the outcome of the battle. They also took great care in presenting their work clearly and creatively on a single page.
The photographs showcase some of their work, which now forms part of an impressive Battle of Crécy noticeboard outside the Humanities Room.
Well done Year Six on all of your hard work with this project!
