Reception Meet the Barrow Hills Chickens

This week, Reception loved meeting the new chickens! We were very excited to welcome them to their new home at school. Mr Gaszka came to visit us and explained how important it was to stay calm and quiet around the chickens while they settle into their new environment.

He demonstrated how the chickens enjoy pecking seeds from the long grass, so the children carefully picked some grass and gently held it through the coop for the chickens to nibble. They also came up with some great ideas for names and are ready to put them forward to Mr Hinds in preparation for the chicken naming competition.
