Year 3 Learn About Sukkot in RE
This week in RE, the Year 3 children learned about the Jewish festival of Sukkot by creating their own mini Sukkahs. Sukkot is a special festival during which Jewish people remember the time the Israelites spent wandering in the desert, and how God protected them on their journey.
During Sukkot, families build a Sukkah – a temporary hut with three or four walls and a roof made from natural materials such as branches and leaves. Many families eat their meals in the Sukkah, and some even sleep there during the seven-day festival.
The children thoroughly enjoyed designing and building their own miniature Sukkahs using cardboard for the walls, along with sticks and evergreen vegetation for the roofs. It was a wonderful hands-on activity that helped bring their learning to life.
