Food Technology - Nigerian Pound Cake Cupcakes
Inspired by Madam Earley’s fascinating assembly celebrating Black History Month, this week in Food Technology the children thoroughly enjoyed making and decorating Nigerian Pound Cake cupcakes, learning a little about Nigeria and its food traditions along the way.
Nigeria is a vibrant country in West Africa, known for its rich culture, colourful celebrations and delicious food. Nigerian Pound Cake is a rich, buttery cake, traditionally enjoyed at birthdays, weddings and other special occasions. Its delicious flavour and texture come from the generous amounts of butter and eggs used in the recipe!
The children worked enthusiastically in pairs, carefully measuring, mixing and baking their cakes. There was great excitement when they discovered they could add a little Halloween twist to their creations, decorating their cupcakes with some wonderfully spooky designs!
It was equally lovely to see the enthusiasm with which they tackled the washing and drying up, working brilliantly together as a team to clean and clear their work surfaces. They were absolutely thrilled with their finished cupcakes and rightly proud of their delicious creations!
