Life At The Top
On Wednesday we held our ‘Life At The Top’ event and were delighted to welcome back past pupils, Alfie and Delilah, now at King Edward’s, Witley and Charterhouse. They both spoke of how much they enjoyed their time at Barrow Hills and all of the wonderful opportunities they were able to experience here.
Here is former Head Girl, Delilah’s speech:
As most of you will know I was head girl last year at Barrow Hills.
I started at the school in Kindergarten and staying on till year 8 will have been one of the best decisions of my life.
I was nervous at first, of course, but, what I started to realise quite quickly was Barrow Hills was becoming like a home to me. The teachers the pupils, the place was my family.
I think one of the greatest differences of staying was how well I bonded with the teachers and how amazingly they looked after me, especially Mrs.Mason, I will forever be grateful for you looking after me, supporting my drama and getting your nails done with me in Spain!
I noticed on moving to Charterhouse I had to take a big step however, I feel it would’ve been harder to take if I hadn’t been prepared for it at Barrow Hills.
I was always supported during my learning and I wasn’t so afraid of putting my hand up anymore to answer a question, even if I did end up getting it wrong! I was encouraged to do things I wouldn’t normally have liked but ended up loving them. And I gained responsibility, courage, bravery throughout it all. How proud I felt that the younger years looked up to me in assemblies and around the playground. How safe I felt. How comforted I was by everyone when I was feeling down.
Barrow Hills will forever be apart of me. Thank you.
