Celebrating Diwali With Reception

This week, we have been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali, often known as the Festival of Lights.

Our Book of the Week was Rama and Sita, which helped us to explore the story behind the festival and learn about some of the ways Diwali is celebrated. The children enjoyed retelling the story using masks and puppets and drawing some of the characters. We also looked at photographs and video clips of Diwali celebrations, finding out about the colourful decorations, beautiful lights and family celebrations that take place during this special festival.
