Fuel for Thought: Year 8 Dig into the Global Energy Transition

Year 8 enjoyed a fascinating talk from Mr. Aspray, a Geoscientist with 30 years of experience in international energy and a member of our parent body.

Mr. Aspray guided the students through the complexities of the global energy transition, explaining how we might shift from our current reliance on fossil fuels toward a mix of renewables, nuclear power, and emerging technologies like geothermal energy and green hydrogen.

From AI to geology, the session highlighted the vital role of research across many disciplines in achieving Net Zero. Year 8 were highly engaged, asking insightful questions about the environmental impacts of battery mining and sharing creative ideas for securing the UK’s future energy supply.

We are very grateful to Mr. Aspray for inspiring our students to think deeply about these critical global challenges.
